Project #4- Vincent Van Gogh Activity

We created this project based off of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night. This project had many steps to it. First, we used different colors of tissue paper and glued it down with a gel medium onto the black background to give the illusion of a sky. The gel medium allowed us to draw lines or swirls with oil pastels or sharpies the next day. I used white oil pastels to draw dotted lines across the blue tissue paper. After adding more to our background, we created a landscape. The landscape could be anything, but I created the skyline of a city.

Project #3- The Dot

We read the story, “The Dot”, which was a fun story that one could read to their younger elementary students to encourage creativity. The story was about a teacher that framed a picture of a single dot on a paper that a student had created. This inspired the student to make many more projects based off of the idea of the dot.              We created our own dots using coffee filters and different types of media. We used crayons, oil pastels, water color paints, and water color crayons. All of the different medias reacted differently with water. The water colors and the markers bled when wet, but the crayons and oil pastels repelled the water. Seeing the reaction, I was able to change the media I used on the second coffee filter to have an outcome that I wanted.             Extension: In an upper elementary class, I would read this book to inspire th...
